Business software development
Applications built around how an organisation actually works — the records it keeps, the approvals it needs and the reporting it depends on.

Copley Technologies LTD is a software company based in Dunstable, Bedfordshire. We design and build digital solutions that improve business operations and the everyday workflows people rely on — the systems that hold records, move work between colleagues and produce the information a business needs to make decisions.
Our work runs along two related lines. We develop bespoke software for client organisations, built to their own operational requirements. We also design and independently maintain our own software products, which are developed and supported entirely in-house.
What we do
The same engineers scope, build and then maintain the software, so the knowledge gathered during a project stays with the people supporting it afterwards.

Bespoke builds
Browser-based systems that people can use from an office, a home network or a mobile device, without software to install and update on every machine.
Cross-device access
Smaller focused tools that remove repetitive administrative work: scheduling, document handling, record updates and routine internal reporting.
Day-to-day workflows
Our own applications, designed and maintained in-house, aimed at productivity, digital organisation and clearer information management.
Proprietary products
Maintenance releases, dependency and security updates, monitoring and practical help for the people who use the software each day.
Long-term care
Assessment of an existing system before committing to a build, so that the work that follows is scoped against real constraints.

How we work
No project begins with a template. It begins with the process the software has to fit into.
Most software problems we are asked to solve are not really problems of technology. They are problems of fit: a spreadsheet that has grown past what a spreadsheet can do, a process that depends on one person remembering a sequence of steps, or three systems that hold overlapping copies of the same information.
We start by understanding that detail. What records exist, who needs to see them, where work gets held up, and which rules are genuinely fixed against which are simply habit. The software design follows from that analysis, and we set it out in plain terms before development begins so that the scope is agreed rather than assumed.
Delivery is organised into defined milestones with working software at each stage, so progress can be reviewed as it happens rather than at the end. After launch, we stay involved: applications need updates, dependencies need patching, and organisations change the way they operate. Long-term maintenance is treated as part of the work, not an afterthought.
We are glad to hear from organisations and individuals considering new software, and from those who need an existing application improved or maintained. Send a short description of what you have in mind and we will reply with our initial thoughts on how it could be approached.
